Karl Willius
Karl "Charly" Willius (5 November 1919 – 8 April 1944) was a German Luftwaffe ace and recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross during World War II. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Karl Willius was killed on 8 April 1944 over Zuiderzee, Holland after being hit by fire from American P-47 fighters. He was posthumously awarded the Knight's Cross on 9 June 1944 and promoted to Oberleutnant. During his career he was credited with 50 aerial victories in 371 missions.
